Quality Technician – Night Shift

– Night Shift Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE: Performs the day-to-day monitoring, testing and documentation to assure that all processes and practices comply With SQF standards for Food Safety and Quality, as well as other federal regulations and directives in food production.

Actively use SAP and Infinity to enter in lab data.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Sweep (Word; Outlook, Excel, Skype, and PowerPoint) Gathers sampling of product and performs quality testing of production environment and equipment.

Conducts quality audits of facility assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved.

Trouble shoot problems and work with operations to correct.

Performs record reviews.

Proficient writing skills to detail quality related activities.

Assists with special projects.

A focus on standards, regulations and practices related to food safety and food quality and environmental safety is priority.

All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA), building and electrical codes, and food safety and food quality (FDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assure that quality assurance standards and documents are communicated and enforced by conducting daily inspections Performs environmental swabbing of production equipment and environment with analysis of results Prepares written documents describing analysis techniques and test results; writes SOP’s and other quality documents and reports Communicate with all levels of the organization in review of test results, including written and verbal forms Enters quality-related work orders into SAP Gather special samples for additional incubation and defects audits as directed Provide support for sample gathering and data recording for plant trials, 1100’s and research efforts Perform audits to verify compliance with established SOP documentation, GMP’s, HACCP and Safe Quality Food {SQF) efforts Assists with the coordination, performance, and documentation remediation of product on hold Reviews regulatory documentation for product release (i.e.

record review) Maintains inventory of materials related to microbiological testing and coordinates shipments of samples Participates and leads process improvement projects Coordinates and participates in quality inspection pallet tear-down Participates and leads quality meetings and training Supports the assessment and management of Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) Assists with the compilation of nutritional or customer required sampling Assists with the implementation of quality initiatives Determines SAP usage decisions on bulk deliveries Monitors and reviews SPC data and reports Updates sampling plans Maintains product specifications documentation for production Monitor the HACCP Program and processes, reflecting a focus on continuous improvement With the customer complaint process and the product complaint process, including investigation, analysis, follow up, documentation, trending, and routine internal reporting to leadership Communicate routinely with Quality Team Leader and plant leadership, identifying opportunities for improvement, training and quality assurance program goals or barriers Exudes a high degree of inter-personal skills and has the ability to work well with everyone Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements Performs special assignments as directed SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Successfully complete the company provided training process Experience in the food manufacturing industry management experience, preferably in the quality assurance function Requires an in-depth working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards, regulations, and laws governing the food production industry such as SQF and environmental safety regulations along with a commitment to continuous improvement Requires problem solving skills with an emphasis on detail orientation Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and count Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Competency in English language (read, write, speak); excellent written, oral, and listening skills.

Knowledge of regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as FDA, OSHA, and EPA Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to effectively present information to top management PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

The employee frequently is required to walk, taste, and smell.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, and crouch.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
